Cleveland, OH, United States (4E Sports) - Former Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel will showcase his skills for Cleveland Browns officials in a private workout Saturday in College Station, Texas.

According to a source, Manziel, widely projected as a high first-round pick in next month's NFL draft, will also visit with the Browns this week.

The Browns did not attend Manziel's pro day at Texas A&M but they have been recently linked with the quarterback.

San Francisco, CA, United States (4E Sports) - The San Francisco 49ers will not pick up their fifth-year option for top pass rusher Aldon Smith after several run-ins with the law recently.

Sources said the 49ers are "not expected" to pick up an option on Smith before the May 3 deadline set by the league for picking up fifth-year options for players taken in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft.

Tuscaloosa, AL, United States (4E Sports) - Alabama Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban hosted Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning and offensive coordinator Adam Gase for two days last week.

Saban called the visit mutually beneficial and said Manning was trying to learn so he could be a better player.

"After all the experience and knowledge that he has, he's going out to try and seek more knowledge and understudying of the game of football so he can play better." said Saban of Manning.

Washington DC, MD, United States (4E Sports) - Arbitrator Roger Kaplan Tuesday ruled that DeSean Jackson owes former agent Drew Rosenhaus $516,415 in unpaid loans and fees.

Rosenhaus originally sought $777,793 for "loans, interest, credit card charges and insurance premiums" in a grievance filed in June 2013 shortly after being fired by Jackson.

Florham Park, NJ, United States (4E Sports) - The New York Jets signed former Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson to a two-year deal worth up to $9 million.

The base value of the deal is $8 million, and includes another $1 million in incentives.

New York, NY, United States (4E Sports) - The New York Giants have signed quarterback Josh Freeman to a one-year contract, giving him a chance to compete for the No. 2 job against Curtis Painter and Ryan Nassib.

Freeman worked out for the Giants on Tuesday. He also recently visited the Chicago Bears.

Freeman was cut by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in October. He was signed by the Minnesota Vikings and started just one game -- losing to the Giants on "Monday Night Football."
